Dec 18, 2017. #4. Use Archer chains. My experience was on a 16" bar 3hp saw worked great. Not as hard as a Stihl chain but trade off is easy sharpening. On a 24" bar with a 4+hp saw they don't hold up real well in the tough cutting. Fine for softwood. I will keep using them on the smaller saws.

Most 45cc saws run out of steam in wood bigger than 8-12". The lil 012 seems to just dig deep, gather its grunt and go. Horizontal reed valve engine grunt. With a sharp chain, they'll surprise you. Biggest weakness appears to be the AV. The left front handle rubber mount is prone to tear, as well as the goofy ring thing.
